Exploring the legendary scottish Hebrides

Our guests are often coming to us with many FAQs before beginning their exploring of Scotland’s beautiful coastline. Widely regarded as one of the most intricate and visually stunning coastline’s on the planet- it is truly a wonder to behold. One of the best ways of course to explore it is on a boat.

When our guests come to stay they often want to visit nearby islands such as Mull and in that instance the easiest option is to take a ferry which you can book here (we recommend you book in advance as much as possible because the ferries get booked up extremely fast and concessions are an option but not guaranteed). For those who are looking for the best experience, and to see everything up close you will want to take a private boat tour.

During my time in Oban I met a couple who run a company called Hebridean Cruises and they offer bespoke, beautiful experiences for their clients to take day trips on wonderful comfortable boats across the Islands.. you can eat dinner while watching a sunset on one of their boats and while we also offer a land based option by staying at the flat and walking down to the pier – I do want guests to fully know all of their options because some of the things you can do in the area are pretty amazing.

Guided tours to hopefully spot some whales, dolphins and seals etc. are all offered as well and I have to say it is very common to see them I had been on some trips in Spain as a child and never saw a dolphin once.. but theyr’e very common in Scotland!

You can also visit Oban’s Explorer centre to learn about what wildlife there is before you head out on any trips. If you want to try diving – the diving instructors and all that information can also be found there.
