the oban whisky tour
A must see in Oban I think the distillery tour at the Oban Distillery is one of the best I’ve done. I am a whisky lover – and I have been to probably over 5 tours so far since I have lived here. As a ‘tourist’ myself when I moved – I think this really helps me connect with my guests staying at Cuan Flat.
I first went on the Oban tour in 2022, and it has since improved a fair amount I’ve heard having opened their whisky rooms now that they were speaking about that year. This makes an even nicer experience for tasting whisky – more akin to that offered by Dalwhinnie’s distillery which is another one of my absolute favourite tours!
What to Expect
Most whisky tours are pretty similar, they will start by explaining what and why they add to the whisky but even before that- what whisky is. Not to spoil any of that for you – I can say that the tour is most definitely worth doing especially if you are visiting our flat while you are in Oban as it is very central and you can easily walk there.
How to Get there
You will need to find somewhere to park as there is not much parking at the distillery and it is for goods/unloading not for tourists. You can park in the Tesco car park for up to 2 hours which might just about serve you for this trip or some of the on-street parking will be an option. It is highly recommended you stay for a night. This website is a travel blog written for the purpose of our guests at Cuan Flat which is a self-service accommodation and you can stay there if you wish and simply walk 15-20 minutes to the distillery. If you are looking to stay just for the tour and for one night – we would recommend you look at hotels.
